In English students develop knowledge, skills and understandings about English language and literature and the ability to talk, listen, read, view and write with purpose, effect and confidence. They develop knowledge of the ways in which language varies according to context and a sound grasp of language structures, spelling and grammar.  The outcomes and content in the English K-6 Syllabus are organised in 5 objectives

  • communicate through speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and representing
  • use language to shape and make meaning according to purpose, audience and context
  • think in ways that are imaginative, creative, interpretive and critical
  • express themselves and their relationships with others and their world
  • learn and reflect on their learning through their study of English

We also have a Reading Recovery program for Year 1 students to assist those who need extra support in their literacy development.
