What to Buy

In order for the iPad you purchase to be an effective tool for your child, the school has set a range of minimum purchasing requirements to guide your selection.

  • is a full-sized iPad (not an iPad mini)
  • is an iPad Air or later
  • has, at a minimum, 16GB capacity (32GB or 64GB is recommended)
  • has WI-FI capabilities (a Cellular 3G/4G model is not required)
  • has a cover that provides protection for transport to/from school and during class.
  • We recommend the purchase of the AppleCare Protection Plan to extend the warranty of your iPad to two years. This also allows advanced replacement for your iPad should it break down during that time
  • We also require that your child brings a set of headphones for use at school.

If the iPad you purchase is exclusively for school use , the 16GB device will be adequate to meet school requirements. However, if you wish to purchase extra capacity for your child, to allow for future use, you are more than welcome to do so. This will allow more multimedia and Apps to be stored on the device.

As the device is not owned by the school, the school strongly recommends that parents take out some form of insurance for the iPad that you purchase. Many parents in previous years have had the iPad covered as part of their home and contents insurance, which often includes usage outside the home. Parents are strongly advised to read their individual polices and decide what works best for them.

If purchasing the iPad through MAC1, they have an insurance policy included as part of the leasing arrangements.
